Background

Southern Hospitality, Inc. has experienced remarkable growth over the past turbulent decade.  Headquartered in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the company was established in 1986 by Robert E. Slater as a full-service hotel management company.  From inception, the company managed all types of hotel properties, primarily for financial institutions, including distressed properties in highly competitive markets.  With an emphasis on "all that it takes" to provide exceptional customer satisfaction, the company accomplished extraordinary turnarounds of the hotels it has managed.

During the first four years of operation, the company served banks, life insurance companies and other lending institutions, including the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), Federal Savings and Loan Insurance Corporation (FSLIC), and savings institutions controlled by the Resolution Trust Corporation (RTC).  The responsibilities of the company in such regard included property operational reviews, market studies and strategies, loan evaluations, borrower-lender reviews, management concerns, receiver responsibilities, brokerage and all phases of lodging property consultation.

After nearly half a decade of successful operation of a management company, Robert Slater recognized there were numerous opportunities to acquire outstanding properties throughout the United States.  These opportunities, combined with the management experience of the Southern Hospitality team created the right set of circumstances for the purchase and take-over of outstanding, but under-performing, hotel properties and then to successfully market these properties.

This strategic change accelerated the growth of the company.  In 1990, the company only managed properties owned by other individuals, institutions, or companies.  Today, through affiliated limited partnerships, the company has acquired numerous hotels and has exclusively managed this hotel portfolio with a wide rage of franchise affiliations from mid-price to upscale brand names.  They include the following:

Novi, Michigan - DoubleTree
Tulsa, Oklahoma - Holiday Inn South
Woodward, Oklahoma - Northwest Inn
